Lido Reifnitz

Water ski on the lake

If you haven't heard of me, my name is Marie and I will tell you what you should experience at the Wörthersee.

Fun, excitement and action – all at once. Gliding over the water on skis is top of the must-do list for me. I'll naturally tell you what happened when I tried it for the first time and what else I found out:

Your advantage with the Wörthersee PLUS Card

If you stay 3 or more nights, Wörthersee PLUS Card holders get one free entrance to one of the participating bathing beaches. Additonal services, such as the rental of sunbeds or umbrellas, are not included in the free entrance and will be charged.

You start from one of the many little ‘islands' on the lake. “Skis in front, knees to your chest, arms stretched out and off you glide.” No problem? Yes, that's what I thought, but go on, try it yourself. There are bound to be fits of laughter and embarrassing moments. But, so what?

After a number of attempts, I learned that the first water skis were 240 cm long and made of pine planks. How they skied with them, I don't know! One of the pioneers of the water sport, Robert Mureny, also settled in Reifnitz. OK, now I can finally tick off the first item on my list.

“It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do.”

Molière

Are you now wondering how item number two on my list will end? I can give you a little hint: # Swimming like in the good old days. You will find the second item in Dellach. Look forward to next
